Medical Patient Tax Benefits
Registered medical cannabis patients with a valid Washington State Department of Health recognition card enjoy important tax advantages at Kitsap Cannabis. On DOH-compliant medical products (those carrying the official medical compliance seal), you pay neither the 37% state cannabis excise tax nor the retail sales tax (approximately 10% combined state and local). On other cannabis products that do not carry the medical seal, you remain exempt from the sales tax but will pay the 37% excise tax.
These savings apply when purchasing from our medically endorsed retailer and presenting your valid recognition card. Exemptions are limited to DOH-compliant products for the excise tax portion. Our team can help you identify sealed medical products to maximize your savings. Tax laws are subject to change, so feel free to ask staff for the latest details.

Supreme Court Update on Guns & Medical CannabisIn a unanimous 9-0 decision on June 18, 2026 (United States v. Hemani), the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that the federal government cannot automatically ban individuals from owning firearms solely because they use marijuana — including medical cannabis patients. The Court held that applying the federal “unlawful user” gun ban to regular or occasional marijuana users violates the Second Amendment, absent evidence that the person poses a danger. This is a significant victory for medical cannabis patients, though federal rules may still evolve.
